MUTTS is a photographic celebration of mystery mixed breeds. If you've ever loved a bonafide mutt, you know that they're some of the best, most loyal dogs ever.
MUTTS features more than 100 gorgeous pups from all different origins and breeds, photographed by Olivia Grey Pritchard. Each photo is accompanied by the pooch's name and best guess of breed mix, and list a unique trait about them. MUTTS aims to inspire joy and connection when readers look through these photographs. And for people who haven't considered adopting a rescue pet before, this book shows that mutts have just as many unique, lovable, and desirable qualities as pedigreed dogs.
Olivia has owned mutts her whole life--from a border collie mix named Spike that her mom found as a puppy trying to get milk out of a carton and a husky mix named Wylie who met the school bus every afternoon, to the most loyal hound / shepherd mix named Chester who loved to sun himself in a certain spot in the front yard. So it's no surprise that as an adult, she has a 120 pound St. Bernard / retriever / shepherd rescue named Jasper--the most patient, protective, devoted dog ever. Her mission with this book is to call attention to the heartbreaking and chilling fact that according the ASPCA, over half a million dogs are euthanized in US shelters each year, and to encourage more rescue adoptions. In addition to hopefully fostering more love for mutts, a portion of the proceeds from the book are being donated to organizations that rescue and spay/neuter, including Take Paws Rescue, Animal Rescue New Orleans, Zeus' Place, Greta's Ark Animal Rescue, Trampled Rose Rescue, and the LASPCA.
After five years as a United Nations photographer working in combat zones in Burundi, Chad, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Olivia moved to New Orleans in 2011 and opened Olivia Grey Pritchard Photography. Olivia seeks honesty and authenticity in her art, and her aim during sessions is to connect with those qualities in each and every baby, child, and animal she has the pleasure to capture.
Olivia has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Master of Science degree in Mass Communication. She is a Certified Professional Photographer through the Professional Photographers of America, and her newborn, pet, and family photography has won awards at regional and international levels. A strong believer in giving back to the community, Olivia advocates, fundraises, and serves on the Annual Gala Welcoming Committee for the New Orleans Innocence Project, a legal nonprofit that works to exonerate wrongfully convicted men and women in Louisiana and Mississippi.
Olivia volunteered for 8 years as Area Coordinator for the international nonprofit Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, which provides the gift of professional portraiture to families suffering the loss of a baby, and for the first three years of Pablove Shutterbugs, Olivia served as Teaching Artist for the program that teaches children living with cancer the art of photography.
