About the AuthorLARKIN SPIVEY is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and a retired Marine Corps officer. He commanded Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines and Bravo Company, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion in combat. He also served as Executive Officer of 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, deployed at sea in support of U. S. and Vietnamese Marine units in country. Prior to Vietnam he was a platoon commander in 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company, trained in parachute, submarine, Ranger and Special Forces operations. He was with the blockade force during the Cuban Missile Crisis and served President Nixon in the White House. As a faculty member at The Citadel, he taught courses in U.S. military history, a subject of lifelong personal and professional interest. He now writes full-time and resides in South Carolina. He is a lay eucharistic minister of the Anglican Church and has been actively involved in the Cursillo Christian renewal movement and the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association. He has made numerous television and radio appearances nationwide and speaks on request to church, veteran, and other groups with his patriotic and spiritual message.
