Its centerpiece is the song cycle, "Drift," which takes the anonymous 10th century Anglo-Saxon quest poem The Seafarer as its inspiration. Both ancient and contemporary tales of travel and exile shadow the plight and losses of wanderers across the waters in this haunting new book. Drift is the second of Bergvall's explorations of historical English language.

About the Author
CAROLINE BERGVALL is an international writer who works across media and art forms. Her previous books include Meddle English: New and Selected Texts and Fig (Goan Atom 2). Her projects alternate between books, audio pieces, performances, and installations. She has presented projects at MoMA and Tate Modern, and taught at Dartington College of Arts, Bard College, and Temple University. She is currently the Judith E. Wilson Fellow in Poetry and Drama at the University of Cambridge.
