This book is good news for all those spiritual seekers who just cannot bear to go to the Christian churches. Not surprisingly the good news is the same Good News preached by Jesus of Nazareth. The big change is that salvation is no longer to be seen in terms of a sacrificial atonement for our sins, rather salvation is realisation of the Truth that is we all share the nature of God, that at our deepest level of consciousness we are one with God, and that the Kingdom of God is the direct experience of unity with the divine in this life. This new Good News is that resurrection is a possibility before death and not just something that happens after death. The Good News is not just about discovering the 'pearl of great price', is it the discovery that you are the pearl of great price. What makes this rediscovery of the Good News of Jesus possible is the exploration of the Christian revelation and the person of Christ through the spirituality and philosophy of the Vedic tradition. The Christian tradition developed its understanding of the mystery of the incarnation and the person of Christ through the application of Greek philosophy and categories of thought such as 'nature' and 'person'. The philosophy and spiritual insights of the Upanishads provide a way of exploring God and the human being through levels of consciousness and in this way Br Martin shows that, with Christ, every human person can say, "I am the way, the truth and the life", and "I and the Father are one". It certainly is Good News. Softback 100 pp.
