About the AuthorAnastasios Tsonis is an Emeritus Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He studied Mathematics/Physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and then he obtained his Doctoral degree in Atmospheric Sciences from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Subsequently, he was awarded, a post-doctoral fellowship with Atmospheric Environment Service of the government of Canada. After that he became a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he built an internationally acclaimed program of atmospheric sciences. His research interests include Chaos theory, Climate dynamics, and Networks. He is the author of more than 140 peer reviewed scientific publications and of eleven books. Four of these books are research books, two are textbooks (one translated into Chinese), two are popular science books (entitled
Randomnicity: Rules and Randomness in the Realm of the Infinite (Imperial College Press, 2008) and
Aristotle's Μετεωρολογικά Weather then and now(Archaeopress Archaeology, 2020)), one is a translation into English of the epic Greek poem "Kyra Frossini", and one is a novel entitled
Parallel (2014). He is the winner of the American Geophysical Union's prestigious Ed Lorenz lecture award for significant contributions to nonlinear geoscience. Recently he was elected corresponding member of the Academy of Athens.
